Taxi Driver Saves Pensioners Life

Online, May 14, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Jay Afzal, a driver for the company Yellow Cars based in Darlaston, has won huge praise from the Mayor of Walsall and the owner of Yellow Cars.
Jay Afzal had driven to Valerie Flowers's home to take her to an appointment at Walsall Dialysis Unit but he grew concerned and raised the alarm when the 75-year-old lady who regularly uses the firm didn't answer the door, Jay Afzal immediately called the police and paramedics.
The Mayor commented "The driver called for help and the police found her collapsed which means they helped save her life."
Mrs Flowers, who suffers from kidney problems and has to have dialysis treatment three times a week, she has been using Yellow Cars for the past few years. The Mayor, said: "Every week Yellow Cars pick up the lady and when she was not there they raised the alarm''
Darren Thorpe, manager of Yellow Cars, paid tribute to the quick-thinking driver and spoke of how Jay's colleagues were proud of him. "Jay is a very good driver and we're proud of him," said Mr Thorpe. "The lady is a regular customer and we knew straight away that we wanted the Mayor to help take her to her regular hospital appointment with Jay.
The Mayor, Councillor Dennis Anson, said: "Every week Yellow Cars pick up the lady and she was not there.
She was taken to New Cross Hospital for further treatment. Mr Afzal, aged 39, of Franchise Street, Darlaston, said: "I'm glad she's OK. She's a lovely lady."
