TC Communications Releases Added Security Features & New Dialing on Modem-Over-IP JumboSwitch Card

TC3848-3/-4 Card

TC Communications has begun updating their JumboSwitch line of cards with new security features. Power, gas, and water utilities rely on these packet-based connections for critical communication needs.

TC3848-3 and -4 Modem-over-IP cards, the first to receive the update, enhances a richer set of security features, compliant with NERC CIP, to meet IT/OT security requirements. Features include Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA), RADIUS and TACACS+ support, SSHv2, HTTPS, SNMPv3, Access Control Lists (ACL), and NTP Authentication.

Cards link or extend up to four telephone/fax/dial-up lines across Layer 2/3 Ethernet, IP or MPLS networks. Using a built-in phonebook, dialing now allows a line to connect multiple remote locations bypassing the need for external switching. For example, a SCADA center will be able to use a single modem to poll multiple RTUs. Alternatively, Hotlink allows a line to only connect to one other line. Connection on Demand (COD) can be enabled, per port, to reduce operating bandwidth usage.

TC Communications designs and builds communication products for metering, protection, SCADA, voice and data networks. TC specializes in C37.94, RS232, T1/E1, and other TDM over Ethernet/IP solutions. With a focus on preserving the strength of legacy networks, JumboSwitch technology integrates traditional interfaces onto one redundant Ethernet fiber optic platform. All products are designed, tested, and supported in Irvine, California since 1991.
