Bangalore, India, July 2010 - TCL Group Ltd, a UK-based independent software testing company, announced the completion of its first year of operations in India.

Since the start of its operations in Bangalore, TCL India has made a significant financial contribution of over $1 million (June 09 to June 10) to the global revenue figures. The Bangalore facility houses a team of employees working as offshore support to overseas clientele and is simultaneously developing its domestic footprint.

TCL began in the UK and the group has now expanded to include TCL US (Boston), TCL GmbH (Zurich, Switzerland) and TCL India (Bangalore). A further expansion into Australia or New Zealand is expected within the next five years.

"One year involved establishing TCL India as an Independent unit, self sufficient and capable. All our employees are specifically trained to meet the standards of the parent company. This involves overseas travels and transfers which has also helped bridge the cultural gap between the teams. TCL India is also working toward getting ISO certified by the end of this year. Bangalore as a market has a lack of pure play testing companies. We simply aim to fill that void." Manoj Chandrappa, Chief Operating Officer, TCL India.

The TCL India team have also announced completion of their in-house Automation Framework which is being implemented on various projects. Along with this, TCL India have established their Performance and SAP testing practices and are equipped to cater to clients from different industries.

In one year, TCL India has implemented the needed facilities and processes for internal training. All employees are trained in TCL specific methodologies; a significant one of them being SMaRT. SMaRT is an in-house structured project management methodology based on the PRINCE2 methodology. TCL India has invested a significant amount of resources in adopting and implementing this methodology, enabled them to bridge the gap with the UK, both culturally and professionally.

TCL India have introduced the global software testing event 'Zappers' in Bangalore. Zappers is a peer sharing event sponsored by the TCL Group. This event attracts testers from all over the city who battle to achieve the most verified bugs found in an application to win cash prizes, as well as networking with like-minded individuals who share the same passion and enthusiasm for testing.

"Year one was all about developing a local footprint and winning orders in India, not just in the UK. We want the TCL India operation to be a truly local company servicing the needs of clients in Bangalore and India as a whole as well as the US, UK and other countries. It was fantastic to see the company achieve several local contracts, and also grow to a size in year one that took TCL EU some three years to achieve. A true reflection of the differences between the two countries, and operations. Over the next five years, we aim to see TCL India expand to over 500 people, principally focused around the needs of our Clients in India, UK and USA." Stewart Noakes, Chairman, TCL Group.
