TechBridge Appoints New Board Chair and New Board Member

Online, July 19, 2013 (Newswire.com) - TechBridge, a nonprofit that leverages technology to empower the nonprofits that impact our community, is pleased to announce the election of Jay Ferro as Board Chair and the appointment of Karen Renner to its Board of Directors. TechBridge also thanks retiring Board Chair, Sandy Hofmann, and Board Member, Sig Mosley, for their respective eight and nine years of service to TechBridge.
Jay Ferro, Chief Information Officer at the American Cancer Society, has more than 20 years of IT experience, including 14 years in executive management, with a proven track record of enabling business strategies through the successful delivery of technology. He serves on the board of UGA's Terry College of Business and is Chairman of the Georgia CIO Leadership Association (GCLA), which named him a finalist for Georgia CIO of the Year in 2010 and awarded him Georgia CIO of the Year in 2011. Jay is the 2013-14 Co-Chair of the United Way's IT United campaign, and he volunteers with Women in Technology (WIT) serving on the Advisory Council and as the 2012 and 2013 Co-Host for the WIT Women of the Year Awards. Jay joined the TechBridge Board in 2011 and has served as a Digital Ball Host since 2010. He also founded Priscilla's Promise, a nonprofit that promotes cervical cancer awareness and raises funds for cervical cancer research, in honor of his late wife, Priscilla Ferro.
Karen Renner, Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Novelis, began her career at Lockheed Martin then moved on to Northern Telecom, Emerson Electric, and General Electric where she held a variety of positions until being appointed CIO for the IT Solutions Products division in 2000. Karen joined GE Energy in 2001, became the CIO for GE Security in 2005 and was appointed VP and CIO for Novelis in 2010. As head of Novelis' IT group and member of the company's Operating Committee, she is responsible for the development and execution of the company's global IT and business information strategy. Karen is a member of the GCLA and has been an avid supporter of TechBridge for several years, including serving as the 2013 Co-Chair for the SIM Atlanta Charity Golf Tournament benefiting TechBridge. Additionally Karen has served as Co-Chair of the 2012 Make-a-Wish Walk for Wishes and in IT advisory roles for various nonprofit organizations including the United Way of Greater Atlanta. Karen holds B.S. and M.S degrees in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University and a MBA in Finance from Georgia State University.
