Teen Brothers Win 2011 Black Enterprise Teen Entrepreneurs Of The Year Award

Online, May 28, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Black Enterprise recently hosted its 16th annual Entrepreneurs Conference and Expo in the beautiful city of Atlanta, Georgia. The 2011 Black Enterprise Teenpreneur Award of the Year award was awarded to Adam Holland, 15, CEO and Jonathan Holland, 14, COO. The two brothers are co-founders of AJ's Hawaiian Iceez, which is a flavored shaved ice vendor located in Brandywine, Maryland. Each year Black Enterprise recognizes teen entrepreneurs, age 19 or younger, who are committed to the tradition of Black business achievement. Previous teenpreneur award winners have gone on to take leadership roles in college, excel in their careers, and of course launch successful businesses.

The company was originally founded to help their parents pay for their younger sister's private school education. With startup capital from their parents, which was paid back with interest, the Holland brothers now own three shaved iced machines and a trailer, making up AJ's Hawaiian Iceez's mobile unit. Adam and Jonathan Holland's authentic refreshment business is now a fledgling family-run enterprise grossing more than $36,000 in 2010, and over $70,000 since its inception. AJ's Hawaiian Iceez sells authentic shaved ice treats at public and private events throughout the Washington DC Metro region. The brothers are currently in talks about franchising the business concept.

Adam Holland (10th grade) and Jonathan Holland (8th grade) are students at the Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland. In two years, Adam hopes to study business and biology at Harvard, while Jonathan is undecided about his field of study, but is anxious to attend Georgetown University.
