Ten Year-Old Author of "Sewing a Friendship" Stitches Membership with National Talk Show Guest Registry
Online, March 25, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Even before Natalie Tinti entered the first grade she demonstrated an amazing ability to create beautiful drawings. In fact, before entering the first grade, Natalie's drawing which she simply titled "Bird" soared high enough with judges at a locally held Annual Artist Event to be awarded First Place.
With a talent and passion for illustrating well established among family, friends and classmates, Natalie was encouraged to use her colorful imagination to build a story around some of her favorite color-filled characters - both real and illustrated. Now ten years-old, the result of Natalie's efforts not only drew from what was real and the imaginary but stitched together three of the fourth grader's favorite pastimes in an award-winning children's book appropriately titled "Sewing a Friendship."
"When I am not writing, I love to do two things the most - drawing cute characters and playing with my friends." explains Natalie. "I developed the girls in Sewing a Friendship based on the people I spend time with every day. I believe that we all have special gifts and personalities that can make for wonderful friendships. I hope my book will encourage other girls to reach out and make new friends, even if they think they have nothing in common with a person. You might be surprised!"
"Sewing a Friendship" tells the insightful story of four girls who learn the true meaning of friendship when they extend their clique to include a classmate whose abrasive and intimidating behavior keeps other children from becoming their friends. In developing the girlfriends' relationships, the story offers its young readers the opportunity to discuss how to make friends and reflect on the importance of showing kindness to everyone.
"Research has shown that the ages of seven and eight, particularly for girls, mark a significant change in how friendship is viewed." writes Sarah Moore in her article "Girls Face Friendship Challenges from an Early Age." "Being a writer who is only ten years old herself, Natalie is able to develop relatable personalities and a storyline that is smart and age-appropriate."
In 2009, "Sewing a Friendship" won a Silver Medal from the Reader's Favorite Book Review and Award Contest. Natalie Tinti is presently working on her next book which will focus more on how friends help one another through difficult situations.
