Tentec Launches New Flange Pulling System for Demanding Subsea Applications

A new Flange Pulling System for demanding subsea applications has been launched by UK manufacturers Tentec. Packed with many innovative features, this compact instrument also helps reduce diver fatigue.

Tentec, a major manufacturer and supplier of bolt tensioning equipment announces the availability of a new hydraulic Flange Pulling System (FPS) as part of its recently launched Optimus 6 range. Designed to withstand the demanding requirements of divers working in these harsh conditions, as well as the FPS, the Optimus 6 family comprises bolt tensioning tools, subsea hose reels and pumps.

Designed with highest pulling force of all systems on the market, the FPS cylinders can each pull with a force up to 259kN and up to 4 cylinders can be used together to achieve a total pulling force of 1036kN. It is extremely versatile as it can be configured in various modes to achieve the desired level of control and pulling force for every application. A choice of two different wire ropes are available. The Tentec Wire Rope offers high flexibility, enabling the system to pull to a force of 129.5kN (13 Tons), whereas the Strand Cable can withstand a much higher pulling force of up 258kN (26 Tons)

For added safety and ease of use the diver team can choose whether the controls are mounted directly on each cylinder or whether a control panel is used for remote operation. The system also features automatic collet release that means there is no need for diver intervention between each pulling stroke.

To minimize maintenance and prevent early corrosion, the FPS is manufactured in high grade, anti corrosive stainless steel and its compact design minimise weight and operator fatigue.

Tentec's equipment has been used in the North Sea since 1991 and Optimus 6 continues the tradition of proven reliability and safety. For more information on the new Optimus 6 from Tentec visit the new website at http://subsea.tentec.net/ or call Tentec now on +44 (0) 121 524 1990.
