Term Life Insurance Is A Personal Choice Of Working With The Right Company
Online, April 24, 2013 (Newswire.com) - "Since most people equate buying life insurance as comparable to getting a root canal, it is sometimes difficult to know which insurance companies to work with. It can be an adventure ---- a good or bad one. Start with word-of-mouth referrals and see where that leads you," suggested Clelland Green, RHU, CEO, and president of Benepath, Pennsylvania.
Pretty much everyone has heard about Prudential or Met Life, but that does not mean anyone needs to automatically buy from them, particularly if they feel the terms offered do not suit their lifestyles, wants and needs. "It's not hard to choose a company though," said Green, "just be up front and honest with any independent agent you talk to. Have health issues? Tell them. Right away they can find you a carrier to work with. Not all insurance companies are created equal, and by having an agent shop around for you, you get the deal without having to do the work."
One of the biggest things most people want to know is whether or not the company they do choose will be there when they need them. While this is not always an easy thing to determine, there are some factors to look for when choosing a company. First, go online and visit their websites. Find out how long they have been in business and how many life insurance policies they have in force.
Companies that have been around since God walked on water and can demonstrate they have a substantial number of active insurance policies are worth a second look. "Maybe you have not heard of them, but if they can prove they have been a force to reckon with in the insurance industry, it is worth checking them out," Green added. Companies that have been around a long time usually have good customer service and are reliable.
If there is one company that really sounds good, check out their financial strength rating. This is easily done through A.M. Best. Make sure the life insurance company is rated by them and look for A++, A+ (Superior), A and A- (Excellent) and so forth. "You will know right away by how the company is rated whether or not they are a good company to work with for your life insurance needs," stated Green. "In short, the best insurance company is the one that appeals to you and works to meet your needs."
