Going once! Going twice! The Live Auction of Texana will be held by the Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) on March 4 as part of its 115th Annual Meeting in the famed Dome Bar of the Camino Real Hotel in El Paso, Texas. Co-auctioneers Mr. Lonn Taylor of Fort Davis and State Historian Dr. Light Cummins of Sherman will be ready to take bids on a wide range of items.

The Live Auction, sponsored by 360 Press Solutions of Austin and EPCOM of El Paso, will be made up of 35 exciting, yet affordable, items including documents, maps, and inscribed first editions by notable Texas authors. Leading the pack is a must-have item for any serious Jose Cisneros collector: a beautiful watercolor and ink drawing titled the "West Texas Family" featuring a family of Longhorns. This is a unique piece since he was known for his historic figures of the Spanish borderlands and was colorblind.

As a seasoned auctioneer, Lonn Taylor claims, "This auction will be the hottest thing in El Paso since the Revolution." Not to be outdone, his co-auctioneer, Texas State Historian Dr. Light Cummins, advises, "Bid yourself to the TSHA auction for a grand time!" Join fellow bidders at the Live Auction Preview Party at 4 p.m. in the Dome Bar with complimentary refreshments. Bidding will begin at 5 p.m. Mountain Time. Telephone and proxy bids will also be accepted for the Live Auction.

In addition to the Live Auction, a Silent Auction consisting of over 300 lots will begin Thursday, March 3 at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 4. This year's Silent Auction will consist of books, artwork, maps, documents, and destination packages. Items from the collections of Al Lowman, Richard Morrison, H. Bailey Carroll, George F. Murphy Jr., and Frank W. Jennings will join donations from the Association's generous friends in comprising a terrific selection.

A complete auction catalogue with bidder information will be available February 7, online at www.TSHAonline.org or mailed by request. Proceeds from both auction events will benefit the education and public programs of the TSHA.

The TSHA Annual Meeting is the largest single gathering place for Texas historians each year. It is returning to El Paso for the first time since 2003 and features sessions with topics ranging from the Mexican Revolution to the American Civil War, workshops, and five banquets and receptions. Following the conclusion of the auctions on Friday, Evan Smith, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of The Texas Tribune, will be the keynote speaker for the Presidential Banquet at the El Paso Museum of Art.
