Texas Illustrator Visits 3rd Graders in Tennesse via Skype

Online, April 22, 2010 (Newswire.com) - A native Austinite and accomplished painter, muralist, and illustrator of a half-dozen children's books, Jensen has built a fantastic broadcast set in his West Anderson Lane studio for performing his grade school tutorials virtually anywhere in the world using Skype on the Internet.

"I'm a working artist and a Mr. Mom, so it's difficult for me to travel to meet kids and talk about the process of illustrating books. When I discovered the "Skype an Author Network," I felt this was a best way to reach the broadest audience - in person, virtually speaking."

Jensen, father of two young boys, dons a crazy chenille hat as the access point to his imagination, characterized by the computer persona "ImagiNate," who can draw and paint at incredible speeds and is very right brain. Together the two explore how an author's imagination is transformed into a colorful and visually stimulating children's book. Jensen then reads the story offering creator's insight to the pictures as he goes.

"I'm exploring other virtual meeting tools and see the summer as a good time to develop new content that best suits the emerging medium. I'm working on a program that speaks to writing a children's book as well. I've had a script for this and I think I've found its vessel."

On Saturday, May 1, Jensen's studio will be open to the public, virtually and in real life and real time.

>From 9am to 4pm at 1726 West Anderson Lane visitors will be able to see the set in person and view an exhibition of Jensen's orginal artwork from his six books. Sketchbooks, preliminary drawings, and character models will also be on view. The author/artist will be on hand to demonstrate and elaborate on his experiences as a children's book illustrator and his ambitions for this new direction towards virtual school visits.
