The 2015 Market: Insights From the 60th Annual FUN Show

Global Monetary Reserve participated in the Annual FUN Show. Learn what insights we brought back, and how we strive to make every client an investment expert in precious metals.

The FUN Show organized by the Florida United Numismatists, is a Mecca for coin collectors, investors, and sellers of all walks of life looking to find and sell valuable coins: and Global Monetary Reserve was right in the epicenter of it all. Representatives Brandon Boone and Charles Stevens returned with insights into the New Year, and a plethora of valuable connections. “It’s definitely going to be a year for buyers,” Stevens says, “With all the action we saw on the bourse, and in auctions: deals were definitely being had.”

625 tables catered to the over 10,000 guests that participated in the four day showcase of some of the most rare and sought after coins in the market. “The highlight of the show was The Platinum Night Auction,” Boone comments, “we saw coins that had previously gone for much more, sell for less. I mean if that doesn’t say it’s the right time to buy I don’t know what does.” Other highlights included the much anticipated Part 1 of the Donald G. Partrick Collection, which sold $25.93 million at Heritage’s Thursday auction. The top three grossing sellers were: a 1792 Birch Cent ($2,585,000), a 1792 Eagle-on-Globe Copper Quarter Dollar ($2,325,500) and a 1776 $1 Continental Dollar ($1,527,500).

But it wasn’t all just sitting back and observing, both GMR representatives visited every booth on the floor, and made valuable connections with some of the best collectors in the business. Of the networking they did in Florida, Stevens says “We want to be able to give the clients at GMR the very best coins on the market, at the right prices, so they can have the most return on their investment.” Our GMR team even personally advised several of our avid coin collecting clientele, hand selecting some of the best coins on the floor. “It was nice to see our clients face to face; it’s really rare to get that kind of interaction with other coin companies,” Boone says of his time at the FUN Show.

Both GMR reps agree that 2015 is going to be a great year for buyers looking to add to their collections, or boost their existing investments with rare and commemorative coins. “First Spouses were really rare on the floor,” says Stevens “And that’s what we specialize in, so it’s great news for our clients!”
