The 6th National Marketing Conclave held by KSOM offers insight into E-commerce and what the future holds.
Bhubaneswar, India, September 14, 2015 (Newswire.com) - KIIT School of Management (KSOM) organized its 6th National Marketing Conclave on the 29th of August. The theme of the conclave was “E-Commerce - Changing Business Fundamentals” and it sought to take a closer look at how E-commerce has changed the game for businesses today. The event was held in the presence of leading names from the industry, including Mr. Sandip Das, Former MD, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Mr. Nitin Seth, President (LCV and Defense), Ashok Leyland, and Mr. Peshwa Acharya, CEO/CMO, Ecommerce & Retail, Housing.com and Founder, Think as Consumer.
The conclave held a lot of relevance for future professionals, as E-commerce is a phenomenon that continues to grow with each passing day. To begin with, the conclave was addressed by senior leadership in the form of Prof. P. P. Mathur, Vice Chancellor, KIIT University and Prof. Anil Bajpai, Director, KSOM. Prof. Anil Bajpai started the proceedings by talking about the rapid integration of E-Commerce practices in the business world. He also described how E-Commerce is redefining marketing definitions.
Mr. Das then took the stage and shared his expertise on marketing; he discussed how understanding consumer needs in order to develop products and services remains the same. In his enlightening speech, he said, “The job of a marketer is to focus on creating and expanding markets. The future of business can be categorized into either Digital or “Dead” Companies. Ideation is agnostic to age, rank or designation; execution is what makes or breaks E-commerce companies. The real test of technology is how it can change the lives of underprivileged people.” He thus managed to make an instant impact on the gathering, stressing the need to change with the times.
Mr. Seth agreed with the idea that marketing basics should not be overlooked while integrating the Internet with business practices. He focused on the auto industry and said, “In this sphere, the role of the Internet is critical with respect to perception management. The Indian consumer psyche is extremely heterogeneous and it is crucial to have an understanding of the consumer mindset before exploring business ventures.” Mr. Acharya talked about ROPO – Research Offline and Purchase Online and how E-commerce had provided a platform to new entrepreneurs.
Three engaging panel discussions were held as a part of the conclave. “Technological and Financial Services: Creating the E-Commerce Ecosystem” was first on the agenda, while “FMCG prospects in E-Commerce" and “m-Commerce - The Future” were discussed in the second and third panel discussions. Several luminaries and experts from the field took part in the lively discussions. KSOM also organized competitions for undergraduate and postgraduate students, that saw a participation of over 2200 students from all over the country.
The National Marketing Conclave, now in its 6th edition, has emerged as a foremost event to discuss and debate marketing themes that are impacting today’s businesses. This year again students, faculty and corporates benefitted from engaging discussions on changing business fundamentals in E-Commerce.
