The 9th Annual PSW Golf Tournament Raises $17,500 for Local Church Groups, Plus Over $1K for the Don Shelton Scholarship Fund
The 9th Annual Golf Classic of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Pacific SW Region Golf Tournament was held on September 16, 2013 at San Dimas Canyon Golf Course in San Dimas, California.
Online, November 13, 2013 (Newswire.com) - The 9th Annual Golf Classic of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Pacific SW Region Golf Tournament was held on September 16, 2013 at San Dimas Canyon Golf Course in San Dimas, California and raised $17,500 for local church groups, plus raised over $1K to benefit the Don Shelton Scholarship Fund at the Disciples Seminary Foundation in Claremont, California. The tournament was held in honor of the late Don Shelton, former Regional Minister of the Christian Church (DOC) in the Pacific Southwest Region.
The money raised from the tournament has been distributed to five distinct units of the church: The All Peoples Christian Center, Los Angeles; Disciples Seminary Foundation, Claremont; Eastmont Community Center, Los Angeles; Project Impact, Lynwood; and the Camp and Conference Scholarship Fund of the PSW Region, Altadena. Each group received $3,500.
The tournament was a four-person scramble that began at 10:00 a.m., with a box lunch served during the day. As a special bonus to participants, those who registered online for the event also received a free one-year subscription to Golf Digest.
After play ended, dinner was served during an awards ceremony, where participants gathered to honor and remember the late Don Shelton.
Next year's event has been tentatively scheduled for Monday, September 22, 2014.
