The AAMA Installs Sandra Williams, CMA (AAMA), as 2023-2025 Trustee
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., November 8, 2023 (Newswire.com) - The American Association of Medical Assistants® (AAMA) installed Sandra Williams, CMA (AAMA), as a 2023-2025 AAMA Trustee in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, at the 67th AAMA Annual Conference. In this capacity, Trustee Williams, a resident of Duncan, South Carolina, represents medical assistants and CMAs (AAMA)® across the nation.
Medical assisting is one of the nation’s careers growing much faster than the average for all occupations, according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. Medical assistants work in outpatient health care settings. Employers are seeking and recruiting these allied health professionals because of their uniquely diverse clinical and administrative patient-centered training.
“It’s an honor to be a Trustee of the AAMA, the only organization dedicated to serving exclusively all medical assistants,” says Williams. “We are pleased to have opened our active membership to all medical assistants holding one of the credentials [earned through] a National Commission for Certifying Agencies–accredited certification program.”
Williams brings a great deal of experience to her office. She retired in 2016 from full-time employment after 30 years in the profession. She currently works part-time as a caregiver for Comfort Keepers of Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Williams has served in many capacities for the AAMA, including on the Continuing Education Board from 2014 to 2017 and the Board of Trustees since 2021. She was previously the Membership Development Strategy Team Chair and the Career Professional Development Committee Chair and is currently the Strategic Issues Planning Committee Chair. She has served as a member of the Leadership Development Strategy Team and Maxine Williams Scholarship Committee. She was awarded the Leadership and Mentoring Award in 2019 and the Medical Assistant of the Year Award in 2021. She is also the Speaker of the House for the South Carolina Society of Medical Assistants and Secretary of the Spartanburg Chapter of Medical Assistants.
The Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)® — or CMA (AAMA) — credential represents a medical assistant who has been credentialed through the Certifying Board (CB) of the AAMA. The CB of the AAMA was awarded accreditation by the International Accreditation Service (IAS) under ISO/IEC Standard 17024:2012, the global benchmark for personnel certification bodies, thus distinguishing the CMA (AAMA) from all other medical assisting certifications.
