Online, December 10, 2009 (Newswire.com) - The Alternative Bible Scholarship Site is now moving to a new server! The old one had lots of great content, but also had banner ads, as well as a popup, although it did not open a new window. These were due to the free web host. All of that is now gone, at the new host. The new link is:

The new site also supports PHP, so I am using a new counter, and it is easier to maintain the menus, both for Javascript and non-JavaScript browsers. Also, it has new JavaScript menus that are similar to a Windows application with menus that drop down over the scrollable content area.
There have also been several improvements in the content. Most notably, the parallels between Josephus' works and the Gospels have been re-edited, with many corrections, several new parallels, and an table to serve as an index into the table which shows the full text of the parallels in most cases. Also, the John the Baptist in Josephus section has been extensively re-written, as a result of discussions held with others at the Rationality and Freethought Forum. Some of the observations and conclusions are more measured, and some objections from recent scholarship have been addressed, although there are a few works I have been meaning to check out on the subject. The basic conclusion is still that the passage on the Antiquities was probably not written by Josephus, unless we allow that John was executed well earlier, which would contradict the Gospels, unless we have Herodias and Antipas getting married well earlier, in which case, huge sections of Josephus must be ahistoric; in places where this seems unlikely.
