The Atlapa Foundation Charity Golf Benefit for Education
Online, July 12, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The ATLAPA Foundation (TAF) 2011 Charity Golf Benefit for Education will take place on Thursday, August 25, 2011, starting at 8:00am (Registration begins at 7:00am) and ending at 3:00pm with a buffet lunch, at the River Walk Golf Course in Mission Valley, home of the Callaway 2010 Junior World Golf Championship. 100% of proceeds from the event will benefit TAF scholarship funds; The TAF Assistance Scholarship Fund and the TAF College Scholarship Fund.
The TAF Assistance Scholarship provides tuition assistance for participation in the Enrichment Program by families that meet specific income criteria. Our focus is to foster growth and opportunity for the student-athlete AND their families, and this scholarship allows additional outreach and provision of services to well deserving households. The TAF College Scholarship Fund supports either a $250.00 or a $500.00 scholarship to graduating Seniors who have completed at least three (3) years in the program and who have received successful admission to a college or university.
In addition to an 18-hole scramble tournament, on a championship Ted Robinson designed course, the event will feature great raffle prizes like a San Diego Charger autographed football, a San Diego Padres autographed baseball, live music, and tournament contests in addition to a silent auction.
"We are grateful for the opportunity to communicate our mission and the success of our Enrichment Program to the San Diego community. It is the commitment from this same community of volunteers, sponsors and supporters that will make this tournament a success," says Ilka T. De León Founder and President of The ATLAPA Foundation. "Proceeds from events such as this provide important funding for continued efforts to improve the quality of educational resources available to our student-athlete population, and to improve their chances for a successful college level education leading to increased opportunities for career sustainment after college."
TAF is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) Public Charity that strives to improve academic performance for student-athletes K-12, via a unique program integrating educational achievement and athletic performance with practical life skills and social/emotional enrichment. Our mission is to improve the student's college admission candidacy by providing a program that builds well roundedness in the student's approach to planning for college and life. Our program focuses on grades, test scores, and athletic achievement, but more importantly, it provides individual life enrichment by imparting conflict mgmt skills, stress-coping techniques, visualization and daily habits that promote a healthy, organized, and productive lifestyle, producing more attractive candidates for college admission and supporting their commitment to college graduation.
