The Certified Safety And Health Manager Accreditation Renewed For 5 Years

It is important to choose a certification that is accredited by an organization that monitors and upholds prescribed standards. The CSHM is accredited by the Council on Engineering Standards boards (CESB).

The Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB) is an independent, voluntary membership body created for its member organizations who recognize, through specialty certification, the expertise of individuals practicing in engineering and related fields. Its creation on April 24, 1990 was the culmination of organizing work by volunteers from among the 130 attendees (23 organizations represented) who participated in the April 1988 National Conference on Engineering Specialty Certification.

ISHM is proud to have met the exacting standards required by CESB for accreditation.Jan Rosenberg, past president and current Treasurer of ISHM said "The re-accreditation by the CESB validates that the CSHM stands among the very few certifications for safety and health professionals that are fully recognized as meeting rigorous accreditation standards. This means that those in the safety and health field who hold the CSHM certification have demonstrated through examination that they are among a select group of professionals who possess the expertise, knowledge, and skill to competently perform their jobs".

ISHM certificants and candidates as well as leaders, volunteers and staff must give priority to health and safety interests related to the protection of people, and maintain high standards of integrity and professional conduct as described in the certification standards.

According to Larry Curtis, Executive Director of ISHM, "It is an honor to be recognized as an organization that meets the exacting requirements of accreditation. ISHM will continue to live up to those standards."

Professional certification shows employers and clients that you are qualified and committed to your profession. It gives them confidence in your abilities and makes you more valuable to employers. Choosing which certification to pursue is an important career decision. Some professional certifications focus on specific areas of practice; the CSHM focuses on a broad range of knowledge and skills that safety and health managers need today.

Besides pursuing a certification that fits your needs and reflects your commitment it is important to choose a certification that is accredited by an organization or association that monitors and upholds prescribed standards for the particular industry involved.
