The City of Daytona Beach Partners with The Continental Group for the "2011 Hurricane Preparedness Summit"
Online, June 28, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The City of Daytona Beach, in conjunction with The Continental Group (TCG) will host a "2011 Hurricane Preparedness Summit" on Thursday, July 7th, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Daytona Beach Resort and Conference Center, located at 2700 N. Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach, FL 32118. The event is open to all residents of the Daytona Beach community, Condo Association Board Members and Property Managers.
The interactive panel will discuss best practices in hurricane preparedness with members of the community and focus on helping attendees create a realistic, functional plan that is critical for successful preparation, response and recovery. Panelists from The Continental Group will include Bill Worrall, Corporate Vice President; Gary Pyott, President, Garden Style/HOA; and Fernando Dominguez, Senior Vice President, Garden Style/HOA.
Topics will include steps for creating a personal hurricane plan; how to protect your community, common areas, and property; how to prepare for an evacuation; what to expect before, during and after a storm; and community training and preparedness for hi-rise condominiums if a hurricane strikes the City of Daytona Beach. The City of Daytona Beach is located on Florida's "Fun Coast" which extends along the Atlantic, or eastern, coast of the state with a population of 68,128. It is internationally known for its racing roots, hosting some of the largest motorsports events in the world including the Great American Race, the Daytona 500.
This is the fourth public service condo hurricane summit TCG has coordinated in the past two months to help Florida residents prepare themselves before a natural disaster strikes. The Atlantic hurricane season began June 1st and ends November 30th; and projections point toward an active 2011.
"Many local residents are desensitized as we have not had a major hurricane storm in years. The result is a false impression of a hurricane's potential and leads to a lack of preparedness," said Dominquez. "This seminar will better prepare and remind our city residents of the necessary precautions on the practices of property protection, emergency response, staff readiness, and disaster recovery."
Attendees must pre-register by providing their name, board position, community name, address, phone and email to Beth Monaco at [email protected] or by calling 407-644-0010. Admission and parking is free.
