(SAN DIEGO, CA) - Energy Digital learns about the City of Hamilton's innovative energy efficiency solutions in this month's issue. From a Corporate Energy Policy to a new economic development strategy focused on attracting clean energy firms, Hamilton is on the forefront of reducing targeting energy reductions.
"Implementing energy-efficient initiatives is environmentally responsible and makes good business sense," said Chris Murray, Hamilton City Manager since 2009. "Whatever we save, we reduce in demand for fossil fuels and nuclear power and we assist with overall system reliability. Saving on energy costs is also a direct benefit to the taxpayers and ratepayers of Hamilton, both in terms of dollars and reduced Greenhouse Gas emissions."
Hamilton also partnered with Horizon Energy Solutions Inc. on a pilot project to design and install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on the rooftops of some City-owned facilities. This project has the potential of yielding $1 million in revenue for Hamilton over the 20-year life of the project, in addition to the significant energy production, cleaner air and environmental benefits.
