Curbing Confusion Over Calories

But it does not have to be that difficult. We need to chose fat loss foods in our diet.

The fat we carry around on our body is a direct result of two factors:

1. What we choose to put into ourselves

2. How much exercise we get.

Let's focus on the first factor. It's pretty simple. If you change your diet to foods that contain lower amounts of fat, you'll at least keep the level of fat already established the same. It won't go up, but it won't go down either.

That's a pretty good start, but you can do better than that.

How about changing the foods you eat to kinds that will actually burn existing stored fat! That's where fat loss foods come in.

I know it sounds too good to be true, but if you make some simple adjustments in your diet to include the following fat burning foods, it's such a simple and easy way to help yourself take the important steps to reducing your fat levels and ultimately becoming a healthier person.

Whole Wheat Goodness:

Choose to eat whole wheat bread and pasta instead of white. Whole wheat choices contain high levels of fiber which take the body longer to break down into sugar. This process takes energy and burns fat, while keeping you feeling fuller for longer. It can also help keep insulin levels in check.

Dairy Goodness:

Dairy products are also excellent fat burners. There are tons of low fat varieties of yogurt on the market today. Many also contain added healthy bacteria and pro-biotics for an extra health boost. Cottage cheese in another fat burning food that is high in protein and low in calories. While on it's own, it doesn't have a lot of flavor, it's excellent when added to salads or mixed with tuna (another great low fat source of protein).

Veggie Goodness:

If you're a meat and potatoes person, it can be hard to cut yourself off from the foods you've grown up on and bring you comfort. There's no need to be so radical and deny yourself your meat and carbs, but try to reduce your portion sizes and in place of the white potatoes you're so fond of, try switching to sweet potatoes. While the texture and taste are not the same as their white cousins, the fat burning qualities are amazing. Another great thing about sweet potatoes is that you can substitute them for regular white potatoes in most recipes so you can keep preparing your tried and true recipes.

Tomatoes are another veggie that's really great for you. They are very high in vitamin C and are can be incorporated into tons of easy recipes, so consuming lots them is easy. They are also full of enzymes that help to speed up your metabolism. By revving up your metabolism you are able to burn more calories and fat.

Protein Goodness - Meat/fish/Soy

Keep your fridge stocked with lots of low fat, high protein meats, fish and soy products like Tilapia, salmon, shrimp and ground and whole turkey/chicken. There are many great tasting soy products on the market that are being used as meat substitutes. They are called TVP or TSP (textured vegetable protein or textured soy protein). TVP/TSP is made primarily from soy flour. Soy flour is what remains after the oil from the soybean is removed. Its protein content is equal to meat and the amazing thing is that is doesn't have any fat. It easily takes on the flavor of accompanying ingredients and is really inexpensive. Some varieties come breaded, which have a great taste, but increase the calories and fat. Try using the TVP/TSP in it's natural state as a meat substitute it in your favorite recipes.

And remember, when you lose those extra pounds you won't lose your sense of humor! You Don't Have to Be Fat to Be Funny
