Cornea Transplant Saves Turkish Citizen Azad Gareyev's Eyesight, Reports Projemed
ISTANBUL, TURKEY, August 8, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Azad Garayev, who has been working as a construction worker in his home country Turkmenistan, lost the sight on his right eye in a work-related accident by 99 percent and was lucky to regain his eyesight thanks to a successful corneal transplantation surgery in Istanbul, Turkey. Garayev had to wait for months for a suitable cornea in his own country, so, he decided to come to Turkey for treatment. Within the framework of the international Patient acceptance protocols, Garayev applied to Pendik Bolge Hospital in Istanbul and when good news for the appropriate cornea arrived from the US for the, preparations for the operation has begun immediately. Ophthalmologist Op. Dr. Emin Erisir, who performed the operation, stated; “Our patient didn’t have to wait for the corneal tissue long. According to the Ministry of Health regulations we required corneal tissue from the Eye Bank in US.”

A successful and critical corneal transplantation surgery has been performed under the leadership of Opt. Dr. Emin Erisir to the Russian national Garayev, who has travelled 4000km from Ashgabat to Istanbul to “See again”. After the operation Garayev flew back to his country in short time and he will be back only for control and medical analysis in Turkey.
