"The Door Caddy": A Specially Designed Door Stop
New York, NY, June 2, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Holes made by doorknobs are quite common when the walls are made from drywall or thin-coat plaster and are time consuming and costly to repair, sometimes making it difficult to match the original wall. The Door Caddy is a specially designed door stop that serves as an in-wall receptacle for doorknobs. The design intent of the device is to provide a new and improved alternative to the standard door stop usually placed on the baseboard in order to stop the door handle from touching the wall.
The device serves as a pocket type unit that envelopes an interior doorknob when the door is open, thus eliminating the need to utilize unwieldy metal stop extensions and wedges that compromise aesthetics and space. The rubber fingers mounted inside the wall cavity enables The Door Caddy to hold the doorknob in place as well as allow for easy release when needed. The Door Caddy can be installed during new construction or added to existing walls. Televised test marketing has been completed indicating exceptional consumer interest in the Fat Boy and/or Door Caddy.
The Patent Pending Door Caddy was invented by Raymond Simmons, Jr. of North Providence, RI who said, “This serves as a cushion and protrudes outward from the wall sufficiently so the door cannot contact the baseboard trim or the wall where the doorknob normally would come into contact. Not only that it will prevent flyaway doors and hold the door securely until such time as the door will be closed. It works and it looks great too.”
