The Emma Bowen Foundation and Beacon Lane Consulting Announce a Strategic Partnership: Transforming Emma Bowen Fellows Into Tomorrow's Leaders in the Media and Technology Industries
New York, New York, April 4, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Emma Bowen Foundation (EBF), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing diversity in the media and technology industries, and Beacon Lane Consulting (Beacon Lane), a global management consulting firm specializing in the delivery of recruiting excellence, today announced a new strategic partnership. The partnership will combine Beacon Lane’s expertise in best-in-class recruitment strategies from the for-profit sector with EBF’s focus on driving Diversity & Inclusion in the media and technology industries. EBF and Beacon Lane are partnering to build a community in the media and technology industries that work together to create a more inclusive and diverse workplace through measurable results, with the immediate goal of hiring EBF Fellows into full-time positions.
The strategic partnership involves a 3-pronged strategy focused on EBF’s Fellows, Partners, and Alumni.
"EBF's partnership with Beacon Lane enhances our ability to increase hires of people of color in the industry as well as improve the percentages of those who are retained and advance throughout their careers. To be fully impactful, we need to reach all essential functions in the industry, particularly the revenue and technology portions, to influence the way media is expressed and business is conducted."
Rahsaan Harris, Ph.D., CEO
Fellows: 100% of EBF’s rising senior class will participate in Beacon Lane’s signature Leadership Development Program: PIVOT12TM. This 12-month Program is designed to transform college students into sought-after professionals by training them to leverage their internship experience into marketable job skills. Each Fellow will be immersed in targeted career-readiness workshops and will work 1:1 with an International Coach Federation (ICF) certified coach.
Partners: Partner companies will benefit from a well-prepared class of EBF Fellows, ready to successfully fill their open roles. Through this partnership, EBF’s partner companies will also have access to recruiting thought leaders and the opportunity to engage in discussions designed to elevate their overall Talent Acquisition function (i.e. Inclusion & Diversity, process improvement and standardization, operational excellence, etc.).
Alumni: EBF alumni will have the opportunity to participate in continuing education targeted at helping them as they advance in their careers. They will also be invited to further engage as mentors and advocates for EBF Fellows inside their organizations.
Rahsaan Harris, PhD, CEO, Emma Bowen Foundation commented, “EBF is committed to connecting talented students and experienced professionals of color to opportunities at top companies while advocating for best practices in diverse hiring, retention, and advancement. EBF's partnership with Beacon Lane enhances our ability to increase hires of people of color in the industry as well as improve the percentages of those who are retained and advance throughout their careers. To be fully impactful, we need to reach all essential functions in the industry, particularly the revenue and technology portions, to influence the way media is expressed and business is conducted.”
Elaine Davidson, Founder and CEO of Beacon Lane Consulting says, “We are very pleased to form a strategic partnership with the Emma Bowen Foundation. By combining EBF’s dedication to arming their Fellows with the tools and resources they need to succeed in work and in life early in their academic careers, we have an opportunity to advance diversity in the media and technology industries. As partner companies increase their engagement, it will have a ripple effect across the industry.”
