The Fabulous Miss Wendy
Online, April 25, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Blasting straight out of Hollywood, California, the trio that is The Fabulous Miss Wendy is catching fire faster than shooting star. The punk influenced rock band is currently on The Parental Advisory Tour with Nashville Puss* and Green Jelly; opening up for the long standing groups across the country on more than 50 dates. From Los Angeles to New York City, people are rapidly learning about and enjoying the incredibly talented Miss Wendy.
After developing a loyal following in the Los Angeles area, they were given a last minute opportunity to hop on this lengthy U.S. tour, playing crowded clubs holding up to 2000 people. Wendy isn't an average, run-of-the-mill rhythm guitar player though, as she is a meticulous, passionate lead guitarist, shredding on her custom Les Pauls while fronting the band at the same time. As quickly as unsuspecting fans slink over to the bar or slip outside for a smoke, they are rushing right back in once the music explodes, shocked to see such a young, attractive girl raging on her guitar.
The reception is becoming so intense, Wendy's manager, Tom Zutuat, flew out to assist on the tour and hire security because of the excited crowds mobbing her after performances. CD's and merchandise are beginning to fly off the shelves after her jaw dropping shows, which include a guest role each night with Green Jelly, showcasing her lead guitar prowess and soloing skills.
"She's very charismatic on stage," said Zutuat, "[with a] larger than life comic book character quality," that is drawing people in like a moth to a flame. Picking up speed like a steam locomotive, Wendy's talent is evoking comparisons to legendary female guitar players such as Lita Ford and Ruyter Suys.
"Please mix us like a punk metal band," said Wendy while detailing the band's persistent sound requests due to many people expecting a lighthearted, poppy, girl band. No one is quite ready for the loud, extreme style The Fabulous Miss Wendy brings to the table, including most sound technicians at the venues on The Parental Advisory Tour, which continues until May 30th.
With over 12 years experience, Wendy's playing is so heavy handed and intense, she has to use special Thomastik-Infeld strings to avoid breaking them during each song. Each guitar pick is short lived as well, lasting just one song's worth of harmonic screeching, string bending guitar work. Backed up by Brian Beckman on bass and Chelsea Bangs on drums, The Fabulous Miss Wendy is on her way to becoming a must see live act. The self-titled album is available now, with tour dates, videos and free songs available on their MySpace page to ensure people aren't left in the dust by this rock phenomenon.
