The First Annual Global Reggae Awards

Online, October 18, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Global Reggae Awards 2011 Announced.

The Reggae industry's first and only payola free music chart, Global Reggae Top 40, has announced its inaugural Global Reggae Awards.

The awards are based on monitored artist performance during the period of October 2010 - October 2011.

Eligibility for shortlisting requires the presence of at least one single on the Mainstream Release list posted monthly on Reggaetop40.com.

To qualify each entrant should have a minimum of six placements on the Global Reggae Top 40 Charts during the nomination period including re-entries.

Short listed entrants are selected by three criteria:-

- Number Of Appearances
- Consecutive Appearances
- Total Duration of weeks On Chart

The Nominees list will be selected by a panel of 7 judges. The Public vote will also aide in determining the final three for each of the 11 categories:-

Category Awards (Gold 45)
- 2011 Single Of The Year
- 2011 Female Artist Award
- 2011 Male Artist Award
- 2011 Group/Duo Of The Year
- 2011 International Artist Award
- 2011 Collab Of The Year

People Choice Awards (Gold CD)
- 2011 Album Cover Of The Year
- 2011 Video Of The Year
- 2011 Artist Of The Year

Honors Awards (LP)
- 2011 Producers Award(Gold)
- 2011 Life Award(Silver/Platinum)

The Shortlist and Judges Panel will be announced In early November each year. Nominees will be announced in December via a global simulcast on Radio Stations worldwide and ITV networks within North America and Europe.

The Awards Brunch will be held within the first quarter of the following year. No Tickets will be sold, attendance is strictly by invitation only.

Awards will be represented by Gold 45 Records for the Category Awards, Gold CD's for the People's Choice Awards and Platinum LP Records for the honor awards.

The first of its kind, the initiative is a part of the Global Reggae Network's long term corporate mandate to promote the reggae industry as a sustainable transparent performance driven business environment.
