Higgenbotham Auctioneers International (HAI) announced recently that they have been engaged to liquidate the "Gallery of Creation" Museum created by Joseph Hurt Studio, Inc. The museum features rare and spectacular displays of the development of the Earth. Many of the items in the auction have never been offered for sale to the public. They include: Geodes, Fossils, Pearls, Crystals and Taxidermy (mounted animals).
The museum features some of the most impressive animatronics ever created. Animatronics is the use of electronics and robotics in mechanized animal mounts to simulate life. The founders of the museum, the Hurt family, are world renowned for their skill and craftsmanship and have routinely built exhibits and animatronics for The Smithsonian, Disney World and Epcot Center.
The museum was originally founded in 1973 and located in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The museum was recently relocated to Social Circle, Georgia. The current economic downturn has reduced visitor volume and has compelled the Hurt family to retire and pursue other interests.
The displays will be prepared for removal and offered to the public at auction Friday and Saturday, June 25 and 26 at 10 AM. Over 700 individual items will be auctioned. The auction will be held at the museum, located at 200 Village Circle, Suite A, Social Circle, Georgia. The public will be able to bid by attending the auction or by bidding live online. More details can be found at higgenbotham.com or by calling 800-257-4161.
