The Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS Announces Rebranding, New Website Launch
New site to provide greater accessibility, interactivity for international members
Online, May 4, 2010 (Newswire.com) - NEW YORK - The Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA), a youth-led network with offices in New York and Accra, unveiled its rebranded design today and announced the launch of its redesigned website, www.gyca.org . GYCA will begin operating the new site effective today, allowing the network to leverage the success of its broad global membership using a dynamic and interactive Internet platform.
GYCA's new logo, which was created to coincide with the site redesign, features a more updated and easily recognizable brand image, one that more accurately characterizes GYCA's HIV and AIDS mission for people who are not familiar with the network.
The revised website is in response to the needs of surveyed GYCA members, who called for more functionality and greater access to opportunities for collaboration and action through GYCA resources and programs.
"GYCA's new website will provide a strong platform for active information-sharing, accessing of opportunities, and networking that members can use to enhance their collective HIV and AIDS activism. We are excited about the potential for member interaction and collaboration, as they share their exciting work, news, and ideas," said Reshma Pattni, GYCA Program Director.
The user-friendly website will feature the integration of web 2.0 tools including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr as to allow for a greater level of interactivity for and amongst members. The site will also host a "Get Involved" page which describes seven ways young people can get involved and become engaged GYCA members.
The new structure will also enable staff to highlight active members' accomplishments via "member spotlights" on the homepage, and will showcase the achievements of GYCA E-course participants and Small Grant recipients.
"GYCA members can look forward to a website that more accurately reflects the spirit of the network - dynamic, fresh, and connected! With more ways to link into GYCA activities, share resources, and seize opportunities to get involved, the new website is an active space for young leaders working in the field of HIV and AIDS," said Lindsay Menard-Freeman, GYCA Program Officer.
"GYCA's new website will serve as an entry point for those interested in learning more about and participating in GYCA's work."
GYCA is a program of TakingITGlobal, a non-profit youth organization based in Toronto, Canada.
GYCA previously operated under www.youthaidscoalition.org, which will be redirected to www.gyca.org.
