The Governments Physical Exercise Suggestions are Discouraging People from Remaining Active

Recommendations from the government regarding the amount of exercise required daily are so daunting they are actually discouraging people from participating in exercise programmes and other activities.

Head of exercise medicine at the Institute of Sport Exercise and Health, University College London believes that a much lower level of exercise should be promoted, even down to just standing up! Dr. Loose more was also the chief medical officer for England at the Commonwealth Games last year and is very involved in low level activity programs for the workplace. Taking supplements to help with any anti-inflammatory or rheumatoid arthritis symptoms that could discourage from exercise is essential.

There is no disputing that the human race needs to keep active and that a lack of physical activity can lead to a number of health problems but does that really mean spending hours at the gym, jogging or cycling miles every day regardless of the weather?  Or would just avoiding leading a sedentary life spending hours each day sitting in front of a computer, games console or television be sufficient?  It is actually the latter – it is estimated that just being on ones feet instead of sitting for three hours a day could increase a life span by as much as two years.

There are health benefits that are still achieved even from regular low level activity – it can reduce the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and depression.  Matthew Byron, spokesman for Feel Good Gold who regularly have desk bound and low impact exercise ideas on their website says “As little as 30 minutes a day of low level activity like walking at lunch time can make a huge difference to your life, you don’t need specialist equipment and you will immediately feel the benefit.  Don’t let the idea of hours of excruciating exercise put you off activity altogether”.

Any low-level activity, even simply getting up off the seat and walking round the desk, can change one’s life forever so there are no excuses.
