The Grand Lodge of the West Indies speaks out about crime in the Caribbean

The Grand Lodge of the West Indies speaks out about the growing rate of crime in the Caribbean.

The growing problem of crime in the Caribbean is not an isolated problem that is limited only to the poor. Crime is occurring at every level of society and is a reflection of the breakdown of cultural and moral values which has occurred as a result of economic hardship and lack of inter Island co-operation. The Grand Lodge of the West Indies contends that inter Island Cooperation is the key to the economic and social future of the West Indies. The evolution of a single Caribbean socioeconomic organism should be encouraged and supported by every member of the Caribbean community. If the efforts and energy of the people are converted from self preservation to group enhancement, the macro effects would be extremely productive. The Grand Lodge encourages other social development groups in the community to increase their efforts and expand their base to help bring the divided communities throughout the Caribbean together to demonstrate what can be done when the people of the Caribbean work together on our common problems.
