The Ipswich Motorway Upgrade Is Completed, Without Compromising Safety and Traffic Reliability

The Ipswich Motorway Upgrade project has widened the Ipswich Motorway from four to six lanes between Wacol and Darra, and transformed the intersection of the Ipswich Motorway and Centenary Highway into a multi-level interchange.

(SAN DIEGO, CA) -Business Review Australia learns about the Ipswich Motorway Upgrade in Queensland. The major project, built by SAFElink Alliance, has widened the Ipswich Motorway from four to six lanes between Wacol and Darra, and transformed the intersection of the Ipswich Motorway and Centenary Highway into a multi-level interchange.

Improving safety and reducing traffic congestion were the goals of the upgrade. "We spent a lot of time and effort on the screens so that motorists really had no choice but to focus on the car ahead of them. Also, we spent time designing aggresses and egresses to work effectively so they people could merge at the correct speed. We made a commitment during construction that traffic safety would be halved than what was occurring if we weren't there. We achieved substantially better than that on the project," said SAFElink Alliance Manager Martin Wood.

Completed on budget and eight months ahead of schedule, the Ipswich Motrway Upgrade project team delivered the project without compromising safety and traffic reliability for the 100,000 vehicles that drive on the motorway each day. Read the full company report at
