The Islington Chamber Of Commerce Launches The Local Enterprise Club

The Local Enterprise Club in accordance with Job Centre Plus has been created to provide unemployed Islington residents with tips and tools to get back into the workforce and/or start their own businesses.

The Islington Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the launch of its new Enterprise Club, encouraging local residents of Islington to start their own businesses as an alternative to employment. With help from the Local Initiatives Fund (Islington Council) and North London Job Centre Plus the ICoC will run an weekly meet-up session encouraging local residents to develop their business ideas.

The Local Enterprise Club has been set up in line with the ICoC's ongoing commitment to fairness and CSR in Islington and will empower local business.

The ICoC Local Enterprise Club will offer local residents the opportunity to:
• meet people who are already self-employed, who can tell you about their experiences
• meet people that want to become self-employed - to share your ideas and skills and encourage each other to work through your business ideas
• get information and advice about setting up a business
• get financial, legal and market advice
• access the internet
• develop business ideas into going concerns
• access to a business mentor

Who should apply?
Local Islington Residents who are:
• Not currently in any other training programme
• Unemployed
• Been thinking about starting up a business but have not had the courage to do so
• If you fit any of the above you, The Enterprise Club is definitely for you.

The Chamber will be accepting applications to join the Enterprise Club on August 22nd 2012.

Enterprise Club sessions will be hosted by members of the Chamber who have volunteered to share their experiences, tools, and tips with attendees. The Club feels that first-hand mentoring will benefit those who are unemployed. They are interested in helping the unemployed to achieve their goals and aspirations. The unemployed can then use what they learned to help others.
