The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc. Announces 2019-2020 Board of Directors
Nonprofit seeks to 'Engage. Impact. Lead' the Atlanta Community in 103rd year
ATLANTA, June 3, 2019 (Newswire.com) - The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc. (JLA) proudly announces its new President, Andrea N. Smith, and Board of Directors for the 2019-2020 league year. For 103 years, the JLA has left an indelible mark on the city of Atlanta, with some of the community’s most esteemed institutions founded or established in part by members of the organization. This year, with the charge to “Engage. Impact. Lead,” the organization of over 3,000 diverse women continues its commitment to making a difference in the lives of women and children.
In line with their charge for the new league year, JLA volunteers will commit over 100,000 hours to engage with their community through the organization’s nonprofit partners. It is through this engagement that members of the JLA will work to leave a positive impact in the areas of generational poverty, early childhood education and commercial sexual exploitation/human trafficking. The organization will also continue to equip each member to lead in their community, offering leadership and civic training with programs including the JLA Leadership Institute, the JLA Women’s Leadership Forum and leadership retreats for new and returning leaders.
Driving this year’s efforts is the organization’s Board of Directors, led by President Andrea N. Smith, a 10-year JLA veteran with an extensive background in nonprofit leadership and fundraising. “The Junior League of Atlanta has been a catalyst for positive community change in Atlanta for more than a century,” said Smith, “we are the place for service-minded women to make a difference in the city, and by continuing to empower and equip these women to become leaders in the league and in their communities we will exponentially grow the impact we have on the city, thanks to our growing pipeline of trained community and civic volunteer leaders.”
“I am in awe of the women we work with every day in the JLA,” noted Smith, “It is invigorating to work alongside a force of diverse and civic-minded women who are so passionately focused on the health and wellbeing of women and children within their community, while also placing an emphasis on developing themselves and empowering others.”
Joining Ms. Smith, the 2019-2020 Board of Directors is comprised of a diverse set of civic leaders and professionals who will lead the organization over the next 12 months.
