The Little Red Dog annual Founder's Day in the Park

The Little Red Dog (TLRD), an Orange County-based non-profit that rescues abused and abandoned dogs and secures their safety in loving homes throughout the Southern California community, will celebrate rescuing and placing over 1,000 dogs in just five years during its “Pups at Pittsford” Founder’s Day Fundraiser on June 18, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pittsford Park in Lake Forest, Calif. Owners and their leashed dogs are invited to a day of family fun including entertainment, raffle prizes, food,  and face painting. To commemorate the rescue of hundreds of dogs throughout Southern California, TLRD will host a 100 dog pack walk, where people will walk around the park with their dogs, pied piper fashion. The event is sponsored in part by WagAware

Mustache Mike’s Italian Ice and Pub Thirty Two of Mission Viejo will provide food at the event, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit TLRD. Entertainment will include “K-9 Disc Thrills and his Disc Dogs” as they demonstrate their dog Frisbee skills with a demo. This year, owners and their pets will be invited to participate in a Dog Beauty Contest, Doggie musical chairs, and a photo booth with fun props. In addition, TLRD Dog Trainers will also be on hand to offer simple dog obedience training tips and teach dog owners how to properly walk and train their dogs to promote good dog ownership. South Orange County Animal Hospital will be handing out vouchers to the first 100 attendees for a free heartworm check for their dogs. Throughout the event, raffle prizes including items from Alex and Ani, Bissell, Best Bully sticks and Kurgo, and many more will be given away every 30 minutes, with all proceeds benefiting TLRD. There will be 26 vendors who will be represented in the “dog pen” area for people to shop and visit.

"TLRD is so honored to host this wonderful event once again in effort to raise awareness for dogs in need of foster families while celebrating such a great accomplishment. We are thrilled that WagAware and our other sponsors have come on board to help us," Because of our efforts, over 1,000 dogs now have loving families that care for them after being homeless and nearly euthanized. Over Six Million companion animals are put to sleep every year simply because they are homeless. These rescue dogs deserve to have a home filled with love and caring owners.

PJ Rosch, CEO & Top Dog

Founded in 2011 by PJ Rosch & Steve McClain, TLRD shares a vision of bringing a brighter future to dogs that are abandoned, abused and severely hurt. TLRD started out as a pit-bull rescue, but now strives to rescue as many dogs as possible and reduce the number of dogs abandoned and abused each year. In 2013, it was estimated that there were 900 to 2,000 new cases every year of animal hoarding in the U.S., with 250,000 animals falling victim. Dogs are often abused on the street, abandoned by their owners, or are directly put in fighting situations, leaving many in the shelter with little hope of a safe recovery or a healthy and happy life.

“TLRD is so honored to host this wonderful event once again in effort to raise awareness for dogs in need of foster families while celebrating such a great accomplishment,” said PJ Rosch, co-founder of TLRD. “Because of our efforts, over 1,000 dogs now have loving families that care for them after being homeless and nearly euthanized. Over Six Million companion animals are put to sleep every year simply because they are homeless. These rescue dogs deserve to have a home filled with love and caring owners. This fundraiser continues our fight to place all dogs into loving homes, which is far from over. ”

The fundraiser is dedicated to the continued effort of rescuing homeless, injured or abused dogs in need of foster families. TLRD looks to find loving families for dogs such as Macy, a 53-pound American Bull dog/American Staffordshire terrier mix, who was dumped in the Antelope Valley; left to starve and fend for herself.  Macy was rescued by a Good Samaritan who couldn’t keep her, so TLRD took her into foster, trained her, and she is now in need of a caring forever family. In addition to Macy, many sponsored dogs and puppies currently in need of foster families will be at the fundraiser for adoption. There will also be bunnies and cats available for adoption through a TLRD partnership with other rescues. The event is free and open to the public, and anyone who pre-registers here will receive a free gift upon check in.
