The "Many Hats of Female Leadership" Mother's Day Celebration
Online, May 4, 2010 (Newswire.com) - (ALBANY, Ore.) Local author, educator, and grandmother Debra J. Slover will offer a free two-hour session for mid-valley daughters, mothers, and grandmothers this Mother's Day Weekend. This session examines and celebrates different aspects of female leadership qualities - ones that are grounded in love, compassion, and partnership.
Using a garden metaphor for growing unique leadership qualities, attendees will enjoy a lively conversation about the many hats they wear at home, in school, at work, or in the community as well as complete a leadership balance exercise. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite hat to the session.
Slover will focus on two key strengths of a female's leadership voice - understanding and nurturing - from her leadership development books U.N.I.Q.U.E.: Growing the Leader Within and Mom's Choice Award® winner U.N.I.Q.U.E. KIDS: Growing My Leadership Garden, written for 8-12 year olds.
Illustrator, Darlene Warner will join Slover to autograph books at the end. The session will be held on Saturday, May 8th from 2:00-4:00pm in the Community Room at Ray's Food Place, 621 NW Hickory Ave. in North Albany, Oregon.
About the instructor: Debra Slover has dedicated her life to empowering leadership greatness in both youth and adults. A former teacher, she also spent 20 years as Director of Oregon Student Safety On the Move, a youth leadership program promoting safe and healthy communities.
