The National Association For Minority Truckers Brings 500,000 Jobs Initiative To The Atlanta Area.
Online, July 8, 2012 (Newswire.com) - NAfMT is answering the call for jobs and hosting the first annual Transportation Career Expo in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia International Convention Center on July 12th, 2012 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Expo will include companies from a host of different industries who have job openings. NAfMT has launched a 500,000 jobs initiative in response to the high unemployment rate and shortage of thousands of truck drivers in the transportation industry. This shortage is expected to continue over the next few years. NAfMT will address this issue by connecting viable candidates with companies and schools throughout the nation. NAfMT will help fill the nation's demand for truck drivers by educating elected officials, community leaders and residents across the U.S. about job opportunities in the transportation industry.
Mr. Kevin Reid (CEO) said "it is our goal to build an industry coalition to create 500,000 jobs with an aggressive grassroots campaign aimed at empowering individuals, families and communities across the nation. NAfMT, together with our industry partners will undoubtedly have a profound impact on the economy with this national initiative."
NAfMT has targeted 25 states with the highest unemployment rates across the U.S. and intends to work with elected officials and community organizations to bring awareness to the opportunities that exist in the transportation industry.
