The National Cycling League Signs New Athletes for 2024
Athletes including L39ION’s Tyler Williams and others have been signed to NCL franchise teams for the 2024 season.
MIAMI, October 3, 2023 (Newswire.com) - The National Cycling League (NCL) is excited to announce the addition of new athletes to both owned teams – Denver Disruptors and Miami Nights.
One of the first athletes finalized was Tyler Williams, coming from the UCI Continental team, L39ION of Los Angeles. Williams will make his debut with the Miami Nights for the 2024 season, and compete alongside recently re-signed athletes like Paola Muñoz, Andrea Cyr, Clever Martinez, Jonny Clarke, Brittany Parffrey, Heidy Praderas, and Daniely Garcia.
Williams has been racing professionally for 10 years, including six years in Europe and Asia. After returning to the U.S. in 2019, Williams fell in love with the American racing calendar and is dedicated to building the sport of cycling here. Since his return, Williams has won Athens Twilight, Tulsa Tough's Cry Baby Hill as well as a stage and the GC of the Walmart Joe Martin Stage Race (JMSR). Williams also placed third in the criterium and second in the road race at the 2023 USA Pro National Championships.
Tyler Williams – Miami Nights:
“I am looking forward to starting a new chapter in my career with the Miami Nights. It will be challenging to learn a new racing style and exciting to work with a new group. As for my new teammates, I already know most of them, so that's exciting as well. My goal is to leave a legacy. This will provide me with a new challenge and an opportunity to see what else I can accomplish as an athlete."
Reed McCalvin – NCL VP, Teams & Athletes:
“I have worked with Williams on a few teams. I cannot express how excited we are about having him sign with the NCL. Over the last five years, Williams has been one of the best cyclists in the country. With his overseas experience, Walmart Joe Martin Stage Race victory, and leading his team to success in some of the most prestigious American criteriums, he will make a great addition to the Miami Nights in 2024.”
Joining Williams on the Miami Nights are Melsey Perez and William Hardin. “Perez has won national and Caribbean championships and is very strong in the Florida racing scene. Hardin has also proved to be a superb athlete, specifically in 2023 stage races, recording top finishes at JMSR and the U.S. Nationals,” said McCalvin.
The Denver Disruptors recently welcomed Anna Hicks and Grace Arlandson to the team. “Hicks was extremely impressive alongside her Cynesca teammates in Europe this past year and will notch multiple podiums next season. Arlandson is also a determined and race-savvy rider who will score valuable points for the team.”
In the coming weeks, the NCL will continue to announce athletes and their teams, 2024 NCL Cup participating teams, and additional details on the 2024 race schedule.
