The News Goes To School In Delaware

Online, June 15, 2011 (Newswire.com) - NBC Learn K-12 has matched a grant from the American Honda Foundation to give a free pilot of its global resources to all Delaware public high schools. The program includes over 11,000 short, downloadable, searchable, content standards-aligned videos available at school or at home. NBC, in partnership with DuPont and the Delaware Department of Education, is holding training sessions for educators and parents June 20, 21, and 22 in locations around the state.

A pilot of NBC Learn's science-related content in Delaware public middle schools was made possible by the American Honda Foundation's grant to the Delaware Foundation for Science and Mathematics Education (DFSME). By matching this grant, NBC Learn expands the programs' availability in all topics-Sciences, Social Studies, Language Arts, Health and Business-to all public high school educators, students, and their families. Drawn from a century's-worth of NBC News archives, this rich and unique resource provides historic news reports, up-to-the-moment current events, original content, primary source documents and other digital media to teachers and students at all levels and abilities. Users can download resources and create personalized playlists.

Training sessions will take place next week at schools in Indian River School District, Smyrna School District, Capital School District, Appoquinimink School District, and Brandywine School district.
