The Power And Limitations Of Website And Application Dashboards

GfK User Centric to host free webinar detailing best web-based dashboard design practices.

A website or application dashboard is regularly thought of as a simple, 'quick fix' solution to revamp an outdated user interface (UI) and draw in new customers. While adding a dashboard as a component of a UI redesign can have inherent value, it's important to understand how to best use and design these tools - without compromising the overall user experience (UX).

For project managers, UX designers and developers looking to determine how dashboards can be properly designed and incorporated into UIs, GfK User Centric will present a free webinar, "The Power (and Limitations) of Dashboards" on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 12PM CST.

Hosted by Associate Director Martin Ho, this webinar will discuss the benefits and potential weaknesses and limitations of dashboards. Ho will also highlight best use and design practice for creating dashboards, as well as how to implement them without negatively impacting the UX.

"Dashboards are popular design aspects in products across all markets and industries," says Ho. "Even though including a dashboard can be an incredibly powerful and engaging method for presenting information and data, we'll emphasize how essential it is for UIs to still support users' goals, meet user expectations and satisfy user needs."

This is the final presentation in GfK User Centric's webinar series, "We Believe Experiences Matter," which began February 2, 2012. The series explores various topics related to UX, such as eye tracking, global user research, and electronic health record usability.
