The Quaker School at Horsham Announces Alex Brosowsky as New Head of School

Alex Brosowsky, a leader in designing and implementing programs for students with learning differences, has begun as the next Head of School at The Quaker School at Horsham (TQS).

The Quaker School at Horsham is pleased to announce that Alex Brosowsky has begun as the next Head of School, as of July 1, 2015. In making the announcement, Board President, Dr. John Kruidenier, said, “We are confident that Alex will carry on the positive changes implemented by former head Ruth Joray. He brings the skills necessary to ensure that the school and its experienced and accomplished teachers will further improve the services they provide to TQS students and their families.”

Over the past ten years, Brosowsky has become a leader in designing and implementing programs for students with learning differences in independent schools. His education and training make him very familiar with the latest research and practice. The Board believes that he also has the passion to move the school forward, present the school’s mission to the larger community, and ensure its vitality well into the future.

We are confident that Alex Brosowsky will carry on the positive changes implemented by former head Ruth Joray. He brings the skills necessary to ensure that the school and its experienced and accomplished teachers will further improve the services they provide to TQS students and their families.

Dr. John Kruidenier, TQS Board President

Brosowsky comes to The Quaker School from The Spence School in New York City where he led the Resource Center, providing support for 70 students with learning disabilities in kindergarten through 12th grade. He also served on the Diversity Council, aimed at increasing enrollment of students of color, hiring faculty of color, and improving community life for all people of color at Spence.

Prior to his time at The Spence School, Brosowsky was Director of the Albany Academies’ Center for Teaching and Learning. There he supported approximately 75 students ranging in age from 3 to 19 and provided faculty development in the areas of differentiated instruction, executive functioning, and literacy. Brosowsky says he is proud to return to a Quaker school, as he earned his first independent school leadership position at Oakwood Friends School in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where he provided learning strategy instruction to students with learning and emotional disabilities.

Mr. Brosowsky started after a week of intensive training at the National Association of Independent School’s Institute for New Heads. The Quaker School community looks forward to welcoming Alex Brosowsky and his family.
