The Rainbow Times Wins Official 2011 Boston Pride Guide Bid, Other Pride Guides Too!

The Rainbow Times has produced the Noho Pride & CT Pride Guides since 2007. Now, the monthly LGBT newspaper has also landed the official Boston Pride Guide!

The Rainbow Times, the Freshest LGBTQ newspaper in New England, was officially selected by the Boston Pride organization as the 2011 Boston Pride Guide producer. The newspaper, out of Northampton, MA continues to grow in New England serving all but one New England state: Maine.

"Boston Pride is very excited about our growing relationship with the Rainbow Times," said Keri A. Aulita, Boston Pride's Deputy Director. "They produce quality event guides for a few other regional Prides and we are happy to add ourselves to their portfolio."

The almost 5-year-old publication has been producing the Northampton and Connecticut Pride Guides since 2007. Although it is their first year working directly with the Boston Pride Guide, TRT team's experience in producing special-event publications placed them in a solid position to win the 2011 Boston Pride Guide bid.

"We are honored to have won the official rights to produce and design the 2011 Boston Pride Guide," said Nicole Lashomb, TRT's editor and co-owner. "This year, Boston Pride has bestowed an incredible amount of trust in us to deliver their product. We are fully looking forward to this collaboration."

The monthly LGBTQ publication has won many accolades through its consistent and in-depth coverage of local and national news, politics, pop culture, entertainment, etc. Additionally, The Rainbow Times' online presence, via FaceBook, Twitter, Tumblr and MySpace has placed the newspaper as a social media powerhouse, according to its publisher.

"Our organizational structure's efforts are utilized to work cohesively and offer simultaneous coverage of stories to our readers and constant exposure to our advertisers" said Gricel Martínez Ocasio, TRT's publisher and co-owner. "Our strong social media coverage, along with fresh website news, e-blast editions and TRT's print edition all work in unison to bring a solid platform like that of no other LGBTQ newspaper in New England. We attribute our success and persistent growth to these factors."

Quality customer service and dedication to its diverse community has propelled TRT to where it stands today, according to Lashomb.

"We are inspired by our readers, by their feedback and acknowledgments," the editor pointed out. "We promote diversity. Our publisher is a Hispanic woman and other team members are of various ethnic, racial and gender backgrounds. No one should be left out."

The Rainbow Times, launched in 2006 with its first print edition in Feb. 2007. It started out only as a western Massachusetts newspaper.

"It could never stay solely as a western Massachusetts paper because we immediately had readers who requested the paper where they lived, in the Berkshires, Worcester, Hartford, Boston, P-Town, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and even NY," said TRT's publisher. "Since our inception, our intention was to move towards Boston at some point, but we never knew that in doing so our readership would triple in size. We endlessly thank the community and our allies. We are here because of them!"

The Rainbow Times is published on the first Thursday of each month. It offers special extra editions during certain Pride months.
