The Recreational Golf Tour to Host Three Season-Long Leagues in the St. Louis Area

Leagues are open to golfers of all skill levels, cash purses for top golfers in multiple flights

June 2, 2010: LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO - The Recreational Golf Tour has announced three season-long leagues in the St. Louis Area, open to golfers of all skill levels, including amateurs. The leagues will be held in St. Charles County, St. Louis County and Metro-East Illinois and will include cash purses for the top golfers in each flight, for each league.

"We wanted to create 'tour-like' circumstances for recreational golfers, giving them a chance to feel like a pro," said Gary Baker and James Surber, founders of the Recreational Golf Tour. "There are only a handful of these types of tours nationwide.

After tremendous community response from last year's league in St. Charles, we are expanding to three separate leagues in the metro St. Louis area."

The Recreation Golf Tour operates season-long leagues for recreational golfers of all skill levels. The tour provides the best competition available to recreational golfers, with a cash purse for each league that will be distributed among multiple flights. The Recreation Golf Tour is open to everyone, except professional golfers.

The leagues, which kicked off in early April, require participants to play at least one round of golf at each of the participating golf courses in their tournament - on any day that a golfer wishes to play. Golf courses involved in the tournament are offering discounted rates for participants and the option to play as often as they wish, golfers can sign up for all three leagues, or just play one.

Participants will log their scores on the Recreational Golf Tour website at www.usrgtour.com. Their final cumulative score will be taken from the lowest scores on all three courses. Golfers and fans can track their scores, and the progression of the leagues through the tour's website.

The participating golf courses are:

St. Charles Tournament
• Country Lake Golf Club
(Warrenton)
• The Falls Golf Club
(O'Fallon)
• Golf Club of Wentzville
(Wentzville)

St. Louis Tournament
• Forest Park Golf Course
(City of St. Louis)
• Landings at Spirit
(Chesterfield)
• Quail Creek Golf Club
(St. Louis)

Metro East Tournament
• Annbriar Golf Course
(Waterloo)
• Spencer T-Olin
(Alton)
• Stonebridge Golf Club
(Maryville)

"The leagues are an opportunity for golfers to play on and support some of the areas best golf courses and bring together recreational golfers from the region," said Surber.

The top 25 golfers from each league will compete in a season-ending championship to compete for a portion of the purse winnings. There will also be a silver level championship consisting of golfers 26-50 and a golf scramble for all other golfers, with the silver championship and the scramble championship also involving a portion of the cash purse.

"The purse is determined by number of participants. The more golfers, the more money in the purse," said Surber. "We are guaranteeing each purse will be at least $1,000, with $40 of the $50 entry fee going straight to the purse."
