Dallas, Texas, December 17, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Representatives from The Something For Kelly Foundation received a very welcome gift from Jewelers For Children last week by enlisting the help of their Facebook fans to win a $10,000 grant.
About The Something for Kelly Foundation
We believe in addressing potential eating disorders as early as age six to prevent a harmful and possibly intractable eating behavior from taking hold.
Patti , Geolat- Founder & Board Member
Motivated by the untimely death of her niece in 2009, jewelry industry leader, Patti Geolat created The Something For Kelly Foundation to prevent eating disorders (ED) in children ages 6-12. Its mission is to empower children to fight their predisposition to eating disorders. Through its programs and services, the foundation aspires to create a mindset shift in children, assist them in recalibrating their relationship with food, and motivate them to voluntarily choose a healthier direction. - Fund speaking arrangements before PTA groups, medical professionals, and educators
- Underwrite the cost of the 2nd publication of Yummy Wisdom, a booklet for children which encourages a healthy relationship with food
- Create a strong network of dedicated volunteers to join our mission
About Jewelers For Children
Jewelers For Children is a non-profit organization founded by the jewelry industry in 1999 and is dedicated to helping children in need. 2015 marks the grant program’s third year, and its goal is to fund ten $10,000 grants for local children’s charities around the country. Jewelers were asked to nominate their favorite local organization. Public voting on the Jewelers for Children Facebook page (www.facebook.com/JewelersforChildren) determined the charities to receive the grants.
More than 18,000 people were motivated to visit the Jewelers for Children Facebook page and vote for their favorite, local charity. Jewelers For Children worked in conjunction with Something For Kelly to encourage people to vote, and their success was evident. “Just one minute of time resulted in $10,000. What could have been easier?”
