The Thermo Protection Cooling Case Extends The Life Span Of Sensors

PSI Technics' Thermo Protection Cooling Case (TPCC) shields sensitive lasers from environmental heat and enables long sensor life even at environmental temperatures of up to 167°F (+75°C). The TPCC can extend the life span of laser distance meters 5 years longer versus an unprotected sensor in a high temperature environment. The TPCC can be used with sensors from different manufacturers. It operates on a thermoelectric basis and is maintenance-free. The system only needs a 24V power supply - no separate liquid cooling system is required.
Typical TPCC applications include the use on automated cranes in iron and steel manufacturing plants, the measuring and positioning of metal slabs in furnaces or the control of rolling stock in hot-rolling mills. Due to its compact size, the TPCC can be mounted in narrow spaces.
The versatile TPCC can be used to protect a variety of sensors, such as optical data transmission systems, optical scanners, or camera systems. Results of laboratory tests show that at an environmental temperature of 161.6°F (+72°C) the TPCC keeps the diode of a laser distance meter at a constant 116.6°F (+47°C). By using a sensor in combination with the TPCC, iron and steel manufacturers can protect their investment in high-end sensor technology that is used in harsh industrial environments.
The Thermo Protection Cooling Case (TPCC), developed by PSI Technics, is a completely new industrial enclosure designed to protect temperature-sensitive sensors. PSI Technics was awarded the "Innovationspreis Success" (Innovation Success Award) by the Investitions- und Strukturbank Rheinland-Pfalz (ISB) for developing the TPCC.
