Online, August 17, 2011 (Newswire.com) - War has broken out in central South Dakota! Dust of War, an independent movie being filmed just east of Pierre, SD began principle photography last week and will spend the next thirty days filming in the Mount Rushmore State. An independent, post-apocalyptic thriller, Dust of War features film stars Doug Jones, Gary Graham and Bates Wilder and is directed by Andrew Kightlinger.
The film brings over 40 cast and crew members from five different states and six different countries to South Dakota for production. While the backgrounds are diverse, the ultimate goal of bringing industry-level cinema to South Dakota is shared by everyone involved.
"We couldn't be more excited to begin principle photography," Kightlinger said. "Shooting an independent action film in the middle of nowhere borders on insanity, but we have the cast and crew to make it a success."
Throughout August and into September, Dust of War will use the landscape of central South Dakota as a backdrop for the post-apocalyptic world the film's characters inhabit. In a land ravaged by an alien attack, Kightlinger expects the dusty and bleak terrain just east of Pierre to reflect the despair and near-hopelessness felt by the human race in the film.
"This film was always meant to be Buck Rogers with a dark edge, and that's exactly what it's turning out to be," Kightlinger said. "With as much fun and hard work as we're putting into this film, we really expect it to translate to a great time at the movies."
With principle photography underway, there are will be plenty of opportunities for extras in the Pierre area on August 27th and 28th, specifically for the scenes involving the shanty town run by the film's antagonist. Those interested in participating as extras should contact Production Coordinator Dohui Kim at [email protected].
