Dr. Garrett spoke about the common perception of Wharton being a finance school. “Wharton is a highly research-driven institution,” he said. “It is the emphasis we give to data and analytics which makes Wharton great not only in finance but other programs as well. Of Wharton’s 4500 students, 176 are Indian nationals. Citing examples of Wharton alumni such as Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, and Kunal Bahl, CEO of Snapdeal and 2015 entrepreneur of the year, Dr. Garrett also emphasized Wharton’s contribution to the field of entrepreneurship.

Dr. Garrett and Mr. Govil highlighted the importance of career management programs as a way to encourage entrepreneurship and engage professional women. “Creating an eco-system of resources for the alumni, who are looking for career changes, will provide opportunities for Wharton to transform dormant networks into active networks,” said Mr. Govil.

Dr. Garrett finally focused on the Global Conversation Tour as an important way to engage alumni. “There is a lot to gain from such tours as it provides me with a chance to meet our phenomenal alumni such as Sanjay Govil and take back the knowledge in order to make The Wharton School a better place.”

The event, a prime networking opportunity for graduates, concluded with a lively dinner.
