Sisters Ellen Brown & Melanie DiCristino, of ellebellenyc.com, announce their ultra chic scarf collection designed to spread social awareness, empower women, and give back. Whether delicately draped around shoulders or even framed on walls, each piece contains a hidden story unique to the designer. In the U.S., Turkish artist Ebru Uygun's distinctive marbling patterns are solely available through ellebelle. The sisters are excited to have recently added the talented Italian artist, Rosella, to their collection.

Designer and artist, Ebru Uygun, whose name ironically translates to paper marbling, describes her designs: “The harmonious dance of the colors reflects my wonderland! It’s a world where evil has no place. It’s pure and clear. When I’m marbling, I discover new worlds… It’s a joy.” Ebru has been an advocate for children, and in 1994, founded a charity, TOCEV, which provides education for children with socio-economic challenges across Turkey. ellebelle donates a portion of their proceeds to TOCEV. On a recent trip to Como, Italy, Ellen was inspired by an art exhibit of Rosella’s, and knew there would be great symmetry with ellebelle’s already established line of scarves. The sisters asked to collaborate with her for their emerging collection. Each piece designed by Rosella has an interesting story like the "Geometrix" scarf which is interpreted as “street grid pattern” representing the symbolic nature of fast-paced New York and its organized streets and avenues. "Palline," Italian for little balls, represents the Times Square ball drop on New Year’s Eve. Wearing the scarf brings the optimism of a fresh start. The "Up, Up, and Away" scarf with its hot-air balloons moored by heels, represents New York as the fashion capital of the world and the fabulous bubble of NYC in which we live.

Ellen Brown and Melanie DiCristino spent decades working in the financial industry while simultaneously searching for the right opportunity to combine their deep-seated love of textiles with their desire to work with non-profit human rights organizations.
