In fact, a recent study published January 2014 by the Associated Press Journal of Marital and Family Therapy stated that only 31% of marriages survive discovered or confessed infidelity.More statistics from the study are included in the chart below.
Obviously, cheaters don't publicize their cheating activities, so by its very nature, exact details about and extra-marital affairs can never be precisely determined, even with accepted statistical margins of error. However, it is safe to say that more people cheat than admit so, even in anonymous surveys. Therefore, the numbers presented in this statistics are probably lower than they are in reality.

But a cheating spouse knows the peril should his or her infidelity be discovered. In fact, any affair lasting longer than a single impulsive act of unrestrained, irresponsible carnality is almost certainly the result of a series of premeditated actions, designed to hide the cheater's relationship-crimes from you.
