Online, June 1, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Gordon Rowland, founder of the "First Fridays Concert Series," is the creating force behind this exciting series featuring classical guitar music. He has lined up many excellent soloists and ensembles to perform at the historic St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 120 East J Street in Benicia, California. This third concert in the series will feature Daniel Roest and Francesca Anderson and happens on Friday, June 6th at 7 PM.
"Benicia needs a consistent musical presence, one that draws on local and semi-local talent," says Gordon, "as well as a venue that can draw on great masters passing through the area. People may be interested to know that for this series, we've chosen to donate funds above cost to go to the Benicia Food Bank."
Classical guitarist, Daniel Roest, lives and performs in Northern California. He has given countless solo and ensemble performances in nearly every kind of venue. With a broad range of styles to select from, his performances shift gears through continents and periods, aimed at pleasing all ages. With teaching, performing and presenting, Mr. Roest leads a full life in the arts, putting his training and decades of experience to work.
Francesca Anderson has been an active performer and teacher in the Bay Area since 1984. She has performed with many Bay Area groups including the Monterey County Symphony, Monterey Bay Symphony, Opera San Jose, Santa Cruz Symphony, Paul Masson Summer Music Series, American Music Theatre, and Hidden Valley Opera in Carmel. Ms. Anderson has also appeared as soloist with the Ohlone Symphony and the South Bay Youth Orchestra. In addition to symphonic work, she has also performed many solo and chamber music concerts throughout the Bay Area.
St. Paul's Episcopal Church offers the perfect venue for the intimacy of classical music. The redwood paneling offers a special warmth and acoustically helps the music resonate. The vaulted ceiling resembles an overturned boat, adding to the quaint atmosphere. Located off Main Street, there are plenty of excellent restaurants near to St. Paul's, so one may make a special night out first with fine food and then end the evening with fine music.
Tickets are available at the door. For questions about this or future concerts in the series, contact Gordon Rowland at 415-297-3542 or [email protected]. The website for the concert series is at http://www.guitarwork.com/2014/03/first-friday-concert-series-april-to.html.
