'This is Awkward' Plans a One Night Stand at iO West in Los Angeles
Dating storytelling show brings gritty nightlife hookups to glitzy Hollywood scene
Online, September 27, 2010 (Newswire.com) - "This is Awkward: True Stories of Love, Lust and Lubrication," one of New York's most popular storytelling shows about dating, announced today the show will be coming to the iO West theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday October 17. Produced by and featuring Samara Doucette and Jonathan Blank, This is Awkward includes guest appearances by local comedy favorites and dating coach professionals.
"This is Awkward is coming to LA because Samara and myself have run through all the singles in New York," said Jonathan Blank, co-producer of This is Awkward. " While we look forward to telling our stories, we look forward even more to our Hollywood experiences that will lead to new stories.
This is Awkward enamored audiences during its debut run at Gotham City Improv in New York during the summer of 2010, leading to a series of sell out shows and recent attendance records at Gotham. The show spotlights the adventures, or misadventures, of Samara and Jonathan in their quest for love and lust in the Big Apple. Past shows have revolved around the themes of first times, hot summer nights, friends with benefits and birthday surprises.
"We are going the distance to share our experiences with the city of Los Angeles," said Samara Doucette, co-producer of This is Awkward. "So, of course, our theme is distance."
