This Week in LegalRideshare: Safety, the Environment, and Rallies
CHICAGO, April 5, 2019 (Newswire.com) - Staying safe in an Uber, investors calling Uber's bluff on going green, and LegalRideshare heads to a rally. Legalrideshare breaks it down.
Monday 4/1
Business Insider posted an article on tips to stay safe when taking Uber or Lyft. This was a response after a college student in South Carolina was murdered after getting in the wrong car. LegalRideshare always emphasizes a high priority to everyone's safety in rideshare vehicles.
Tuesday 4/2
Lyft and Uber have made several mentions about a "green initiative" but some investors aren't buying it. Business Insider reported: "As far as I can tell, they're actually putting more cars into the congested areas, and they're pulling business out of the transit systems," said Murray Rosenblith, portfolio manager of the New Alternatives Fund, which aims to make socially responsible investments.
Wednesday 4/3
What happens when your rideshare vehicle.....breaks down? For a mother and her baby, it was a pretty harrowing event. ABC7 Chicago reported: "The driver ordered all of them out of the car right there on the freeway. So Collins, the baby and the Seattle man walked together down the freeway to the 98th Avenue offramp and to hail another Lyft."
Thursday 4/4
How much does Uber / Lyft actually pay its drivers? Apparently little. ABC7 San Francisco reported on the subject and found that "The Institute's research shows that ride-share driving jobs could eventually go away completely. Many companies are already in the process of testing alternatives, a driverless future, one where self-driving cars will take over for human drivers."
Friday 4/5
The week ends with video captured from the Chicago Rideshare Advocates Rally. The drivers are uniting around the country for better wages and better conditions.
